Nick Wilby is a guitarist/multi-instrumentalist originally from Enfield, CT. He began playing at age 11 with the help of an uncle and older cousin. He played in rock bands throughout high school and decided to make music his life’s work. He attended the University of Massachusetts Amherst and graduated with a Bachelor of Music with a concentration in jazz guitar performance in 2010.
While living in New England, Nick played with a wide variety of groups ranging from jazz groups (chamber and big band), afro-beat ensembles, rock/pop groups, dixieland, and bluegrass. Since moving to DC last year Nick has continued to work as freelance jazz guitarist. He has also picked up the uke, plectrum banjo, and piano in recent years. Also, he has been involved with the up-and-coming, DC-based Pointless Theatre Co., writing, arranging, and performing with them.
Nick has been teaching since 2008. He tailors his lesson plans to the individual, making it a point to help each student find their own musical voice.
Nick teaches Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
